Sadis story part 10
Part 11 - [link]

Night had swallowed the land, covering it in a sheet of black and dark blue. There were no birds in the sky and not any animals around. The world looked lifeless, drained of all its beauty. Not even the tiny patches of grass whirled in the light wind. Only the stars seemed alive, twinkling like shattered diamonds in the evening sky. A pair of eyes watched them, as if looking at them for guidance. Simba had been glazing at them for a while now, his eyes wet and his feet aching. He had never been this far away from home. Even though he was in the desert the small cub was very cold. Before long he got up and started walking again. Simba didn’t know what to do, he felt so lost. “Should I find somewhere to sleep? Or I.....I” Simba thought to himself. He looked around and spotted a cluster of long, yellow dry grass, which could be a good place to sleep. The pants were sharp, stabbing the cub’s paws and body as he lay down amongst it. There was no comfort here. “Ohh dad why did you have to go??” Simba sobbed. The wind had picked up now, rustling between the grasses nosily. That night Simba was pledged by nightmares of his father and of murderous hyenas hunting him down, their bright yellow eyes holding no mercy to their pray. “NOOOOO DAD” he woke up screaming, only to see that he was all alone. He was just about to go back to sleep when his head flow back up again. There was a nose, the sound of dried grass being crushed under someone’s feet.... or claws. Simba froze “Ohh no the hyenas have come to get me! No please no” the little cub was shaking madly “Simba?” came a voice. Simba had thought the voice would have been sickly growl was actually a very quiet weak cry. He popped his head out of the grass with two very beautiful green eyes staring back. “SADIS!!!” Everything seemed to be forgotten as Simba bounded up to her with a smile. He was not alone anymore. “Ohh Simba! You’re alive! Thank goodness” The cub was by her side in a second rubbing against her and she bend her head down to stroke him back. “I thought I’d lost you, Simba” she cried “I thought you where...dead too Sadis... how did you...” Simba didn’t get the chance to finish before Sadis gave a horrid groan and snuck to the ground. “Sadis... What wrong?” It was only then he saw what state his friend was in. Her nose was crusted with dried blood and her body was blackened with bruise. Sadis’s once pure white fur was now a pale brown form the dust, her eyes... ohh those wonderful eyes were now dull with pain. Simba’s eyes widened “Sadis... your leg” he whimpered looking at the great gashing wound on her right leg. It was still bleeding a lot and she had still been unable to walk on it. Most of the skin and hair had been removed as well as the whole leg being covered in blood. Simba started to cry and Sadis gave a sadden wimp “It will be alright Simba, we had got to be strong now. Come on lets find somewhere nice to sleep” She nudged Simba to his feet before fighting to stand up herself. This was going to take some time, but Sadis knew the desert and knew where there was a safe place to sleep.

The pair had been travelling for some time now, but the land had changed. The grass was soft beneath them and a light green (water must be nearby) and acacia thorn tree was up ahead. The two were hungry and very, very tired. “Look Sadis we came sleep under that, not that far now” Simba had be like this all the way saying “come on you can do it” or “not that far now I know it” and all the time Sadis’s head had got lower and lower and with every step had got slower. Simba had now ran ahead to the tree “See I knew we would find somewhere” there was a loud thud. Simba turned seeing that Sadis had fallen to the floor meters away breathing very slowly. “SADIS!!” the horse could hardly speak. She was exhausted. “Sorry dear but I can’t walk any further” this wasn’t the Sadis Simba knew. The one that had saved them in the graveyard was strong and brave but what happened today had changed all that. “It ok, we can sleep here” Simba tucked himself against Sadis and was soon asleep again. The horse stretched her broken leg out and sat up straight looking up at the stars " Oh Mufasa forgive me I feel so lost, what am I to do? " Tears filled her eyes, but it wasn't the pain of her wound but that caused them it was sadness and helplessness. But at that moment the wind swirled around her neck. As much as she would have given in to the pain, Simba still needed her there. She was going to have to fight this with everything she had. . “I will take care of Simba, I promise Mufasa even if it costs me my life" Suddenly Simba was awake. “Sadis I can’t sleep. I’m having bad dreams about...” Sadis rubbed him gently “It’s ok Simba, I will take you home tomorrow” Simba then yelled “NO! I CANT GO BACK! I’m not going back” Sadis was confused “Why not Simba, they will all be worried about you and you are now the king” she said “ No I don’t want to be king no more, Uncle Scar can be the king. I can’t face them after.... I mean... oh it my fault.... PLEASE don’t make me go back Sadis please don’t take me back” Sadis turned in the direction of the Pride lands and then nodded. For awhile they didn’t speak but then Simba spoke “Will you leave me Sadis? When your leg is better” he said weakly. Sadis looked deep into the cub feeling a little bite of strength return to her. “Simba I will never leave you...” Simba started crying again “You really mean it, you really promise” Sadis eyes were now watering “ I made a promise to your father that I would protect you and... well today... I failed your dad Simba. I should have done better but this time I will not fail. I won’t fail Mufasa or you Simba. I will look after you to the end and that is a life time promise. A promise of a life time Simba. I won’t fail again.” Both were crying and Simba rubbed Sadis chest “I miss dad so much, I WANT MY DAD BACK!” the cub sobbed “So do I Simba, so do I” she sniffed “Why did he have to die? Why it my entire fault” he murmured in her fur “Simba don’t you dare say that, this was not your fault! You are so young. Your father died in an unfortunate accident, It’s a terrible thing but these things happen” she cried trying to be brave about it. “But what about you and your wound, Will YOU be ok Sadis?” This is what Sadis didn’t know about, a injure like this could be fatal or could get better, she knew that so answered Simba with the best answer “Everything heals eventually Simba like everything else in the world, it can be slow or fast but they do heal over time” Simba felt a little better and laid down beside his guardian. “Well I’ve never seen this before" said a voice for behind them. The horse and the lion cub were shocked by the voice and looked to see standing behind them a wart hog and a meekat. “You look like you need some help" said the hog
" who are you?" Sadis was wary of the new comers
"I am timon and this is pumbaa and you are" asked the meerkat " I’m Simba and this is my friend Sadis” the two looked blankly at each other “Please will you help Simba for me?” Asked Sadis

Awwww......poor Sadis. I wish so badly I could just hug her and lick those tears rolling down her muzzle to console her.
